Who are some role models in your life?
The biggest influence in my life is Jesus Christ. Following him and his word is what I look to first in all the decisions I make and what I center my life on. I have also been very fortunate to have great parents that love me, stand by me and lead me in everything I do. I also have amazing men guiding me and believing in me both on and off the field. My high school coach at Hammond, mentors who train me each year at Linebacker University and a friend of mine who is a few years ahead of me and will be playing at Anderson University next year to name a few.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I love anything from the 80’s, but pregame I typically go with Pop Smoke.
What are the strengths of your game?
Preparation! I love to study and breakdown film. Nothing more fun then calling the offense before the play. I also am told I have a nose for the football and take great angles and personally I pride myself in being a sure tackler.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
I had a minor injury the season before last and my first game back we shutout our rivals in one of my personal best games. It was also one of the best games we played as a team.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
I was matched with TeKai Kirby at a camp at Virginia. Awesome speed and cuts. Burnt me bad in our 1-on-1.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
One of my favorite quotes is “the pain of discipline is better than the pain of regret.” Trust the long process and put the best people you can around you. It’s not your identity. It’s a tool.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I think Africa would be awesome!
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was nine when I first started playing football. I can remember telling my dad after my first season ended that the only thing I wanted to do was play football. I loved the game and loved how it brings so many different people together on the same field.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
Easy, Clay Matthews. One of the best LB’s ever and you gotta respect the hair game. Clearly!
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
When I was little I was a huge Florida Gators fan. My parents surprised me with a trip to the Swamp for a game for my birthday. Getting to run all over the field and also shake Dan Mullens hand was a dream come true.
