The New Tulane Point Guard: Sion James
Sion James was born in Buford, Georgia and played Point Guard at Lanier High School. James is ranked as a 3 Star recruit who is Top 30 recruit in the state of Georgia. Sion is also a Top 10 Point Guard in the state as well. Sion James is committed to play at Tulane this fall.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NBA Players?
I’ve always been inspired by Lebron because of the way he handles his business on and off the court.
What high school is your biggest rival?
Our biggest high school rivals were Gainesville and Dacula. Anytime we played them , the games were physical and scrappy.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I don’t like to get hype before games. A lot of time i don’t listen to music but if i do it’ll be chill songs like anything by drake.
What is your offseason training like?
In the off-season i spend a ton of time in the gym working on my entire game. I also try to play pickup to make my moves more fluid and realistic. Aside from that, i spend time in the weight room getting stronger and i stretch a ton to make my body healthier.
What is your favorite memory of your high school career?
My favorite high school memory is all of the playoff games we played my senior year. It was a long, hard-fought journey to the state title game and it was memorable because i got to do it with my teammates and my whole community.
What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?
I hope to bring leadership and playmaking to college. Those have been staples of my game for a long time and i don’t want that to change.
What made Tulane stand out from other schools?
Tulane has the ideal combination of basketball and academics. I’m gonna be able to play competitive basketball in the conference for coach hunter, and off the court, I’ll be able to attend school and meet people at a top university.
What do you want to accomplish on and off the court during your time at Tulane?
On the court, i want to win the conference and make it to the NCAA tournament. Off the court, i want to graduate with my degree.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
The one sports hero I’d love to meet is lebron. He’s so smart off the court that i feel i could have an interesting conversation with him.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite moment as a sports fan was when lebron came back from down 3-1. That was one of the greatest playoff series of all time.
