Delbarton’s Star Tackle: Jake Macce

Jake Macce is a 2024 recruit who plays Offensive Tackle at Delbarton High School. Macce is ranked among one of the top recruits in the class of 2024 and is ranked among one of the top Offensive Tackles in the class as well. In addition, Macce is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of New Jersey and is listed among one of the top Offensive Tackles in the state of New Jersey. He holds offers from schools such as Temple, Army, and UPenn.

Who are some role models in your life?

My Dad. He always coached me in sports and it made it easy for me to look up to him growing up.

What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

I listen to a lot of Migos and Polo G pregame.

What are the strengths of your game?

I’d say my strengths are my ability to hit hard and my speed. I think I can get to the second level pretty well.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite memory is going into St. Peters and beating them last year in the playoffs. No one expected Delbarton to win. We shocked the state.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

Matt Gemma is probably the best player I have played against. He always gave me the best work in practice and it really made the games easier for me.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

To an aspiring D1 athlete I would say, it’s all about the work you put in. You have to not just do it, you have to enjoy it.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?.

I would probably go to an island in South America. Like Jamaica or the Dominican Republic. I have had friends go there and they say it’s really nice.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?

I’ve been playing padded football since I was 6, but I’d say I fell in love with it in my sophomore year of high school. Once I started playing with guys who were better than me, it made me work harder and fall in love with the grind.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

If I could meet one sports hero I’d probably meet Shaq. He’s always been an athlete I’ve gravitated towards.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

I would probably say watching LeBron come back from being down 3-1. I’m not even a huge LeBron guy, that was just a super fun Finals to watch.
