Qadence Samuels is a 4 Star recruit who plays Forward at Bishop MacNamara High School. Samuels is ranked as the 35th best recruit in the nation and is ranked as the #5 Forward in the nation as well. In addition, Samuels is listed as the #2 recruit in the state of Maryland and is listed as the #1 Forward in the state of Maryland. Qadence Samuels is committed to play at UConn next fall.
Who are some role models in your life?
My two role models are my mom and my dad. My mom always talks to me about life and basketball. My dad pushes me to always go hard and keeps me consistent. They just make me want to work hard and be the best I can be.
What artists do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
The artists I listen to are Drake, Future, and YoungBoy. I listen to those three artists because they get me ready and make me want to prove everyone wrong.
What are the strengths of your game?
The strengths of my game are my shooting, work ethic, and ability to play harder than everyone else on the court.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career is scoring 42 points in my middle school championship game.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I have ever played against is Jada Williams. I’ve known Jada ever since 8th grade when we were at Blue Star 30 Camp together. I say Jada is the best player I’ve played against because she has a great basketball IQ, knows how to score, and has great leadership when it comes to her team.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Some advice I would give to an aspiring D1 athlete is to just listen, ask questions, and always get involved.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere in the world, it would be Miami, Florida. I say Miami, Florida because I love being in the heat and it makes me feel relieved and relaxed.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
To be honest, I was 14 (8th grade) when I fell in love with the game. I knew I loved the game when I made those 42 points in that middle school championship game. It made me work really hard and I wanted to win.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet one sports hero, It would be Steph Curry. I love how he shoots the ball everywhere around the court. I also love how he handles the ball when pressure is on him, and his energy when he plays. It looks like he does not care about who steps up, he will knock down that shot.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
As a fan, my favorite sports moment is when the Eagles won the Super Bowl.
