Loomis Chaffee’s Star Forward: Carys Baker

Carys Baker is a 4 Star recruit who plays Forward at The Loomis Chaffee School. Baker is ranked as the 59th best recruit in the nation and is ranked as a top 10 Forward in the nation as well. In addition, Baker is listed as the #1 recruit in the state of Connecticut. Carys Baker is committed to play at Virginia Tech next fall.

Lil Baby and Lil Uzi Vert 

What are the strengths of your game?

I am versatile and can shoot the 3, but also get to the basket

What is your favorite memory of your career?

Winning the championship this year with my high school

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

I’ve played with a lot of really great people, one being my future teammate at Virginia Tech Mackenzie Nelson.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?

Always have fun with it because there are going to be ups and downs. Also always be confident in your abilities that you have, and don’t let people change your view of yourself.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

France

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?

I was about 11, in 6th grade. That was my first time on a competitive travel team so that’s when I started to really love it. 

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

Serena Williams because she has done so much for women in sports and been such a great role model for women in sports. 

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

The 3-1 comeback when LeBron was on the Cavs was pretty remarkable to watch.
