Anthony Birsa is a 3 Star recruit who plays Offensive Guard at Joliet Catholic Academy. Birsa is ranked among the top 700 recruits in the nation and is ranked among the top 50 Offensive Guards in the nation as well. In addition, Birsa is listed as a top 20 recruit in the state of Illinois and is listed as the #3 Offensive Guard in the state of Illinois. Anthony Birsa is committed to play at Northwestern next fall.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?
Growing up I wasn’t really just a fan of one player. I grew up a Bears fan so I would say that the Chicago Bears inspired me the most.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
Before games I normally just listen to whatever the rest of the team is playing on the speakers. When I go out on the field to stretch before we put pads on it’s normally Eminem or some kind of rap music.
What is your offseason training like?
During the offseason I play basketball, and lift during the winter. In the spring I go full time lifting during the week and O-line training on Wednesday’s and the weekends.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career so far was last season, when my teammates and I won the Illinois class 4A state championship.
What was your reaction to getting your first offer?
When I received my first offer I was just in shock, super excited, and extremely grateful.
What is your favorite food?
I would say my favorite meal is a nice steak dinner.
When did you realize you were talented at football?
I think it really hit me Sophomore year that I could be good at football.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet one sports hero, it would definitely be Michael Jordan. My parents grew up watching him and we’re a big Chicago sports family.
