One Of The Best From Drexel: James Butler
James Butler was born in, Fairfax Station, Virginia and plays Forward at Drexel. He currently averages 13.2 Points, 11.7 Rebounds, and 2.2 Assists per game. Next season will be his senior year and will be looking to be the best player in the CAA.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NBA Players?
Growing up I was always inspired by Lebron and Shawn Kemp.
What CAA team is your biggest rival?
Our biggest rival is Delaware but with Hofstra playing so well recently it is always a game I look forward to.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
No songs in particular. I jus put on a playlist to block out as many distractions as possible so I can get focused on the game.
What is your offseason training like?
A lot of running distance and lifting weights. I also try to work on parts of my game that are not as developed so I can utilize them during the season.
What parts of your game, do you think transitioned the best from high school to the college level?
I think rebounding and mid range game transitioned the best
What are your goals for the upcoming season?
My main goal is to win the CAA and go to the NCAA Tournament. Individually, I would like to increase my stats in all major categories as I look to be a well rounded player and help my team win ball games.
What are your plans for after you graduate?
After graduating I would like to play professional basketball overseas for at least a couple of years. I will see how my game transitions over and if I enjoy it.
What advice would you have for a young basketball player, who has dreams of playing D1?
I would say you always have to be working on your craft. There is a finite number of spots in D1 and you have to be able to outwork majority of the guys to earn a roster spot.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I think it would be pretty cool to meet Lebron
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment is when the Cavs came back from being down 3-1 to the Golden State Warriors.
