The Stanford Standout: Max Murrell

Max Murrell-Stanford Power Forward Commit

Max Murrell was born in, Omaha, Nebraska and played Power Forward for Millard North High School. Max is ranked as the 86th over recruit in the nation and the top recruit in the state of Nebraska. He is committed to play at Stanford this fall.

Growing up, were you inspired by any NBA Players?

I did not watch a lot of NBA as a kid but I really liked Dirk and Lebron just because they were such a big deal.

What high school is your biggest rival?

Millard West is traditionally our biggest rival but the last few years it has probably been Omaha Central.

What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

I listen to a lot of different music before games, it just depends on how I feel before the game.

What is your offseason training like?

Offseason training for me is a lot of 1 on 1 basketball workouts a few times a week and me shooting and lifting on my own usually every day.

What is your favorite memory of your high school career?

My favorite memory of my high school career is winning the Metro tournament this past year.

What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?

I hope that my defense and shooting transition to the college level.

What made Stanford stand out from other schools?

The balance of athletics and academics really made Stanford stand out from other schools.

What do you want to accomplish on and off the court during your time at Stanford?

On the court I want to help the team reach our full potential and get far in the NCAA Tournament, and off the court I just want to develop relationships and become a better person.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

If I could meet one sports hero it would probably be Kobe or Kawhi.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

My favorite sports moment as a fan is probably watching the Spurs beat the Heat when they were both in their primes.
