Panther Creek’s Star Quarterback: Amari Odom

Amari Odom is a 2023 recruit who plays Quarterback at Panther Creek High School. Odom is ranked among one of the top recruits in the nation and is ranked among one of the top Quarterbacks in the nation as well. In addition, Odom is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of North Carolina and is listed among one of the top Quarterbacks in the state of North Carolina. He currently holds offers from, UNLV, East Carolina, and UMASS.

Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?

Cam Newton was and still is my inspiration. As a tall QB, I’ve heard some people compare me to Cam and it’s funny because he is my favorite player.

What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

 Lil Uzi Vert is probably the most listened to rapper I have pregame, but my playlist plays a mixture of artists.

What is your offseason training like?

For football, my offseason consists of lifting, footwork, and throwing with a mix of camps at colleges. For basketball, being in the gym is my offseason. That and AAU basketball.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite football memory is probably winning our 1st round home game in the state playoffs my sophomore year against Olympic. We came back down 7 and had a game winning drive with about 2 minutes left. My favorite basketball memory is the entire playoffs of my junior year, we lost but made the state championship as a 15 seed.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

I’ve played with a few good football players but the best I think is probably Tyler Thompson or Jonathan Streeter. Basketball wise, the best player is Daylen Berry. I’ve played against players like Mikey Williams, Skyy Clark (Illinois commit), and Jackson Shelstad (Oregon commit).

What was your reaction to getting your first offer?

 My reaction to my first offer was definitely just smiles and happiness. It was an in person offer so the surprise shock and feelings just rushed and everything went by so quickly.

What is your favorite food?

Cheeseburgers and Fries easily

When did you realize you were talented at football?

 I realized I was talented at football after I played my first JV game at CE Jordan High School. We lost but I threw for about 340 yards and 4 touchdowns.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

LeBron just because he’s been smart with every decision he’s made in his career on the court and off the court.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

As a fan, my favorite sports moment was probably game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, just that series as a whole was enjoyable.
