The Pennington School Star Small Forward: Ethan Pires

Ethan Pires is a 2022 recruit who plays Small Forward at The Pennington School. Pires is ranked among one of the Top recruits in the nation and is ranked among one of the Top Point Guards in the nation as well. In addition, Pires is listed among one of the Top recruits in the state of New Jersey and is listed among one of the Top Point Guards in the state of New Jersey. He currently holds an offer from Bryant.

Growing up, were you inspired by any NBA Players?

Kevin Durant, he is like my idol. I wouldn’t of gotten into basketball as deep as I am now if it wasn’t for him.

What high school is your biggest rival?

Honestly I wouldn’t say any specific school is my rival but I look at anyone I go against as my rival because they’re trying to take my scholarships.

What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

 I listen to a lot of EST Gee pregame for hype, my brother Jumpshot James, as well as SSG Splurge and a lot of unreleased underground music.

What is your offseason training like?

My off-season training is I see two different trainers for two different purposes, one is to help my mechanically and mentally and the other is more for bag and skill work. I also do weight training 5-6 times a weak offseason so usually my workouts a day consist of 2-3 workouts a day with maybe 1 and max 2 rest days a week which will be form shooting.

What is your favorite memory of your career?

My favorite memory would probably be just all of it, don’t want to high school for granted. All the games over 25 points, all the games where we come back and win, even the games where i’m struggling shooting and have to scrap the hard way.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?

The best player I ever had to play against would be between Terrence Clarke at future all american camp, he was just so much more grown and mature for his age than us so he had that and he was 6’8 while my sophomore year i was built like a new born deer lol, but also another player would be Zigilar i believe his name? the one who goes to tennessee and used to play with lightning in the EYBL. he wasn’t like insanely hard to guard but he made me work for any bucket, he hustled and played hella hard and had edge which i loved.

What is your favorite food?

Wings or Sushi, wings you can have any flavor and sushi just snacks

When did you realize you were talented at basketball?

I started to realize i was good my sophomore year, i was much more advanced for my age in Delaware which is why I had to move to jersey. Delaware got a lot of sleepers tho and bunch of dudes that can hoop but jersey is unmatched in basketball i had to come out.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

Kevin Durant, easy he’s a legend and my favorite athlete ever.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

My favorite sports moment as a fan is Kaepernick sacrificing his NFL career to stand for something bigger. when i’m older i want to use my platform similar and help social injustice around the country and world.
