One Of The Top Women´s Basketball Recruits In The Class Of 2025: Priyanka Ponnam

Priyanka Ponnam is a 2025 recruit who plays Forward at The George School. Ponnam is ranked among the Top 25 ESPNW Hoops Gurlz Watch List for the class of 2025 and is ranked among one of the Top Centers in the class as well. In addition, Ponnam is listed as the #1 recruit in the state of Pennsylvania and has received interests from schools across the country before even playing her first high school game. She currently holds interests from schools, such as, Notre Dame, UCLA, and Kentucky.

Growing up, were you inspired by any WNBA Players?

I was mostly inspired by Candace Parker, and now that I´m older I look up to her even more because that is who I want to be and work towards being.

What high school is your biggest rival?

The Westtown School is our biggest rival that I know of.

What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?

I don´t have any song in particular, but I just search up a hype playlist and listen to all the songs.

What is your offseason training like?

Our offseason is mostly morning workouts and we also have some weight training. In the evenings we have open gyms as well as workouts 2-3 times a week.

What is your favorite memory of your career, so far?

My favorite memory of my career is when I hit 4 three pointers in one game. When I was younger I thought I would never be able to shoot because I always was put into the post but I worked on it.

What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?

I hope to transition into college as an all around player but mostly a wing. I would shoot off the dribble, catch, create my own shot, as well as drive into the lane. I want to be able to score from anywhere on the court.

What is your favorite food?

I just like my mom’s Chicken Curry and Rice. Others are the usual Pasta, Pizza, and Ice Cream.

What do you look for in choosing a school?

When choosing a school I look for great academics, a team that can work well together and adjust quickly, as well as a great community/tight-knit feeling on and off the court with everyone.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?

I would want to meet Stephen Curry because he is just the greatest shooter of all time. I just love the way he moves on the court and how he practiced so much that it’s automatic.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?

My favorite sports moment as a fan is when Candace Parker got a championship after returning home. I thought it was really special and it was so inspirational.
