Akili Calhoun Jr is a 4 Star recruit who plays Defensive End at Liberty High School. Calhoun is ranked as a Top 225 recruit in the nation and is ranked as a Top 20 Defensive End in the nation as well. In addition, Calhoun is listed as a Top 20 recruit in the state of California and is listed as a Top 3 Defensive End in the state of California. Akili Calhoun Jr is committed to play at Cal next fall.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?
I was inspired by players like Myles Garrett and Khalil Mack.
What high school is your biggest rival?
My biggest rivalry was with Pittsburg High School.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I like to listen to Future and Meek Mill pregame. Not exactly a specific song, though.
What is your offseason training like?
Hard workouts twice a day in the morning and afternoon at least 5 days out the week.
What is your favorite memory of your high school career?
For me, my favorite moment in high school was winning a state championship.
What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?
My mindset and work ethic are what I want to bring with me to the next level. I want to prove myself.
What made Cal stand out from other schools?
It was a lot of different reasons. Some being the education is unbeatable, as well as representing where I’m from. That’s always been a big thing for me because the Bay Area doesn’t get as much recognition as it deserves.
What do you want to accomplish on and off the field during your time at Cal?
I want to get a masters in psychology and be the best pass rusher in the PAC 12 and go to the NFL.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
Reggie White for sure
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
For me it was when the Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl. The pure joy and love for the game came out in their celebration.
