Growing up, were you inspired by any NFL Players?
I actually just started playing football during my freshmen year of high school, so I wasn’t really into it growing up. With that being said some guys I look up right now would be Quinten Nelson and Tyron Smith.
What high school is your biggest rival?
Our biggest rival is Salinas High School. They are right down the street from us so it calls for a physical and passionate game every year.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
The only thing I listen to before games is rap music. I do this to get me hype and put some adrenaline in me before the game.
What is your offseason training like?
I try to make my off-season training more difficult than my regular season training so that during the season, our workouts with the school will be much easier. This also helps me prepare my body physically for the season.
What is your favorite memory of your high school career?
My favorite memory of high school would be every Friday/gameday. The whole day would just be a vibe. From the morning when you get to school all you can think about is that night and what you have to do. Then after school I go chill and prepare for the game at one of my friends house. Then finally it’s game time and I’ll always remember giving high school football my absolute all.
What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?
My athleticism and speed are my two most valuable aspects of my game because of my size, I’d want to be able to overcome that with my speed and athleticism. I would love to transfer these abilities over to the collegiate level.
What made UCLA stand out from other schools?
The coaching staff for sure had a big part, mostly the OL coach, Coach Frye. He did a good job of convincing my parents and I that UCLA was the right place for me. Also I’ve been on campus twice and it’s close to home. I’d say the last reason why I chose UCLA is because I’d much rather be in the city, than in the country. It’s more of my vibe.
What do you want to accomplish on and off the field during your time at UCLA?
At UCLA, I want to become the best player of my ability. I want to leave a legacy at UCLA and hopefully I have the chance to make it to the NFL when my time there is done.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet any sports hero it would be LeBron James. He’s the goat in my eyes and what he does off the court is more important to me than what he does off the court. He’s a huge role model for me.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
As I said earlier, I didn’t grow up watching or playing football, so my favorite sports moment would be when the warriors revived their team and went on their championship run for multiple years. I even got the chance to make it to a couple games in Oakland.
