Toombs County’s Star Linebacker: Kareem Palmer
Kareem Palmer is a 4 Star recruit who plays Linebacker at Toombs County High School. Palmer is ranked as the 332nd best recruit in the nation and is ranked as a top 25 Linebacker in the nation as well. In addition, Palmer is listed as a top 40 recruit in the state of Georgia and is listed as the #4 Linebacker in the state of Georgia. He is committed to play at Auburn.
Who are some role models in your life?
My biggest role models are my family and my coaches. They’ve taught me discipline, consistency, and how to carry myself the right way on and off the field.
What artists do you listen to pregame to get you hyped up?
Pregame, I listen to artists like J. Cole, YB, Drake, and a few underground artists that most people aren’t aware of. Their music helps me bring energy. I wouldn’t necessarily say the music hypes me up—I could flip that switch anytime.
What are the strengths of your game?
My strengths are my physicality, electric quickness, explosiveness, and football IQ. I play fast, trust my reads, and bring energy every snap.
What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory is stepping on the field knowing I earned my spot through hard work and preparation. Competing with my teammates makes it special. Another favorite memory is my very first time touching a field in 9th grade, when I really fell in love with the game. I’ve always been a fan of football as a child, but I hadn’t participated in extracurriculars before then.
Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
I’ve been fortunate to play with and against a lot of talented players, such as Lagonza Hayward, Mike Polke, and Keshawn Deloche, all former teammates who led the Toombs County Bulldogs to a successful championship in 2024. Playing with those guys makes you the best of the best, and now we’re going back for another shot at the championship. Competing against high-level athletes pushes me to elevate my game.
What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Stay consistent, trust the process, and don’t get discouraged. Work when nobody’s watching and take care of your academics. Don’t take your upperclassmen for granted, you can learn a lot from them. Also, surround yourself with leaders and ignore outside critics, they will tear you down if you acknowledge them.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d love to travel to Japan. I’m interested in the culture and the disciplined mindset.
How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was around 5–6 years old when I first started playing, and I’ve loved the game ever since. I officially started playing in 9th grade at age 15.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
I’d love to meet Kobe Bryant. His leadership, intensity, and preparation really inspire how I approach the game. Even though it’s a different sport, the mindset carries over.
What is your favorite sports moment as a fan?
My favorite sports moments as a fan are watching big rivalry and playoff games. Seeing the intensity and effort at the highest level motivated me to be where I am today and inspired me to try football. I’m truly blessed that the Lord has put me on this path.
