Richard Orosco is a 3 Star recruit who plays Defensive End at St. John Bosco High School. Orosco is ranked as the 598th best recruit in the class of 2027 and is ranked as a top 50 Defensive End in the class as well. In addition, Orosco is listed among one of the top recruits in the state of California and is listed as the #4 Defensive End in the state of California. He currently holds offers from San Diego State, Western Michigan and Sacramento State.

Who are some role models in your life?
My main role model is my dad because he does whatever it takes to get me where I need to go—whether it’s training, practice, or camps across the country.

What artists do you listen to pregame to get you hyped up?
I’ll listen to either Deftones or Metallica to get me in the ruthless mindset for the game.

What are the strengths of your game?
Some strengths of my game are definitely speed-to-power on pass reps and defeating attack blocks in the run game.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memories have got to be Mater Dei game days. The vibe is just next level. Players, fans, and coaches are always hyped up—it’s just an experience you’ve gotta be there for.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or against in your career?
The best player I’ve played so far had to be Brandon Baker from Mater Dei, who is currently at Texas. I played him as a freshman, and man—it was fun going against competition of that caliber.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
Some advice I’d give is to keep working no matter what happens or when it happens. Nobody can stop you except yourself. And most importantly, look to God—He will guide you throughout your whole journey, in football and in life.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere, it would probably be Japan. The food out there looks amazing, and the scenery is beautiful everywhere you go.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was 7 years old when I fell in love with the game of football. Ever since I put those pads on for the first time, I knew I wouldn’t want to take them off.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I got to meet someone, it would definitely be my idol Kobe Bryant because of his killer Mamba Mentality—or probably Nick Bosa, so I could learn from one of the best.

What is your favorite sports moment as a fan?
My favorite sports fan moment was definitely when the Rams won the Super Bowl. Growing up in a Rams family, it was truly a blessing to see them win it all.
