Carter Mathis is a 3 Star recruit who plays Interior Offensive Line at Gainesville High School. Mathis is ranked as the 581st best recruit in the class of 2027 and is ranked as a top 40 Interior Offensive Lineman in the class as well. In addition, Mathis is listed as a top 70 recruit in the state of Georgia and is listed as a top 10 Interior Offensive Lineman in the state of Georgia. He holds offers from schools such as Georgia, Auburn and NC State.

Who are some role models in your life?
My role model is my dad. He is the hardest worker I have ever met, and he pushes me even when I feel like I can’t push myself.

What are the strengths of your game?
I believe the main strength of my game is my ability to communicate calls and make sure everyone knows what they’re doing.

What is your favorite memory of your career?
My favorite memory of my career is going undefeated and winning the region during my freshman year.

Who is the best player you have ever played with or played against in your career?
The best player I’ve ever played with is Alex Payne. He now plays offensive tackle for the USC Trojans and was a great mentor to me in my early high school days.

What is some advice you would give to an aspiring D1 athlete?
My advice to an aspiring D1 athlete is to never quit and always look for ways to improve. No matter how difficult or unreachable something seems, understand that it’s all part of the process. Also, no matter how good you think you are, there’s always room to get better. Never be complacent.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could travel anywhere, it would be Alaska. The Last Frontier is somewhere I’d love to spend some time admiring.

How old were you when you fell in love with the game?
I was 7 when I realized football was my passion.

If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet one sports hero, it would be Zach Martin. He was consistently dominant at his position, and I try to model my game after his. It would be awesome to have a conversation about what it took for him to reach that level.

What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment as a fan was when I was in 1st grade—watching Deshaun Watson make the pass to Hunter Renfrow to win the National Championship.
