Lamont Butler Jr was born in, Riverside, California and played Point Guard at Polytechnic High School. Lamont is ranked Top 40 at his position and is ranked as a Top 25 recruit in the state of California. He is committed to play at San Diego State this fall.
Growing up, were you inspired by any NBA Players?
Growing up, I was mostly inspired by Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul.
What high school is your biggest rival?
King High School and JW North were my biggest rivals in high school.
What songs do you listen to pregame, to get you hyped up?
I do not really listen to any music before games, but it would probably be songs by Lil Baby.
What is your offseason training like?
My offseason training is mostly focused on my weakness and adding more skills to my bag.
What is your favorite memory of your high school career?
My favorite memory of my high school career was the game against Notre Dame (SO) in the quarterfinals of CIF.
What parts of your high school game, do you hope to transition to the college level?
I believe my unselfishness, defense, and leadership will transition to the college level.
What made San Diego State stand out from other schools?
The top notch atmosphere, chance to impact right away, and being close to home made SDSU stand out.
What do you want to accomplish on and off the court during your time at San Diego State?
On the court, I want to win as many games as possible, win the Mountain West Tournament, and make it to the Final Four. Off the court, I want to achieve the best grades as possible in the classroom and become a role model to younger athletes.
If you could meet one sports hero, who would it be?
If I could meet one sports hero, it would be Kobe Bryant.
What is your favorite sports moment, as a fan?
My favorite sports moment is when Damian Lillard hit the game winner on Paul George in the playoffs.
